The Healing Waters

The book of John chapter 4, is one of my favourite stories in the Holy Bible. It's about a 'known' woman that met Jesus at a waterwell. It's possible that this was her 'pick-up point' for men, so The Lord started the conversation by asking her for a drink. He knew she was desperately thirsty for a life of meaning and acceptance, not only water. He told her all about herself; that she previously had five different husbands - and how the man she was now with wasn't even hers. It was a statement that only He as the Son of God could have possibly known. From that moment, she dropped her waterpots, and ran to the city telling everyone she had found the Christ. the Messiah who told her the truth about herself. She was set free, and her life was changed forever.

I can truly relate to this woman. Her experience was at a well, mine was at a telephone booth. I was oppressed by poverty, and couldn't see any hope for myself. I was crying inside with no one to relate to, and everyone that was around me just wanted to use and drop me. I was sinking... fast.

Just before I lost all hope, Jesus came and rescued me by sending an angel to talk to me by that phonebooth about His love and forgiveness. I never believed that after all I had previously done, God could still forgive me, and I was told that if I believed in Him, He would forgive me of all my sins and give me a brand new life. I then said yes to Him, and He forgave me, and quenched my thirst and gave me a great love and compassion for hurting people. This once hopeless life had now became a life of hope and destiny. Now all I want to do is to love Him and to tell everyone about this man Jesus, and His unconditional agape love and forgiveness for all men and women.

When we meet with Jesus, He will tell you all that you need to know about your life. He is a deliverer, counsellor, comforter, friend, husband, lover. He can relate to you in every situation that you may be facing. He is a real joy-giver; the only one who can give you peace within yourself and everlasting life!

Please put your trust in the Lord.
